Yinka Ilori: A Tableware Collection Inspired by African Sunsets

British designer Yinka Ilori has presented the Epin Rere tableware collection, which includes handmade plates, a jug, a dish and a vase. The author was inspired by the sunsets on the beaches of Lagos, Nigeria.

The name of the series is translated from Yoruba as “My Destiny”.

The tableware is made of ceramics in collaboration with a small Portuguese manufacturer. The ribbed edges of the plates and the surfaces of other items imitate ripples in water, and the combination of rich shades alludes to the palette of Nigerian nature. A distinctive feature of the dishes is the ombre effect, which provides a smooth transition between different colors.

Yinka Ilori also released a collection of table lines with abstract geometric prints, also inspired by nature. The name of the line O Dara Lati Dara translates as “It’s good to be beautiful.”
