Japanese origami art inspired designers to create a modular sofa
To design it, they literally experimented with paper
Swedish design and art studio Front and European Furniture Group (EFG) presented the Ori modular sofa at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. It is inspired by the geometric and minimalist aesthetics of Japanese origami. The sofa looks as light as paper figures.

The five Ori modules can be used individually or combined into a configuration, making the resulting sofa suitable for any home or office space. It was necessary to create such a piece of furniture that would turn the office into a kind of comfortable living room and on which one could sit with a laptop for a long time.

Designers started designing by studying folded paper models. So they designed a sofa made of light materials and with a wooden base, which attracts attention with its graceful folds. The back and seat curve on the sides, forming a round shape resembling a paper fan. If desired, it can be supplemented with built-in electrical outlets. The sofa will go on sale in June 2023.
