Color-changing transforming tables by Mikolášková&Drobná

Czech designers Kristina Mikolášková and Tereza Drobná, studio Mikolášková&Drobná, have developed a collection of glass side tables that can be combined with smaller metal models to change their appearance.

Glass is made using the technologies of craftsmen from Novy Bor and Zhelezny Brod, cities known for their long-standing traditions of glass production.

Working with glass is Teresa’s main specialization, while experiments with metal are Kristina’s prerogative. Combining these two materials in different shade configurations allows us to achieve interesting color effects.

Candy Tables are made up of two parts: an inner cylindrical metal table (available in six monochrome color variations) and a taller outer hollow shell made of glass with a gradient effect. These elements can be used both separately and as a single whole: a glass “dome” covers a metal table, changing its shade.

Orange, lilac, pink, yellow, blue and mint green shades of metal refer to sweets – it is no coincidence that the collection was named Candy Tables. It was first presented to the public at the Designblok exhibition in Prague in the Candy Factory installation, created in collaboration with the Lappa design studio.
