Pentagram created a gift set in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon
The Collector’s Edition is the perfect gift for Pink Floyd lovers.
Harry Pierce and John Marshall of Pentagram have created a luxurious gift album in honor of the 50th anniversary of the iconic Pink Floyd album. On March 1, 1973, the band released their eighth studio album, The Dark Side of the Moon.

The cover was illustrated by Hipgnosis, a design agency formed by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell in 1968. Thorgerson went to the same school as Roger Waters and Syd Barrett. The image of a prism through which a beam of white light passes to appear in all colors of the spectrum was taken from a textbook.

The gift album is an homage to Thorgerson’s legendary design. It contains many previously unreleased images, including photographs of Jill Furmanowski and the Hipgnosis crew taken during album tours in the early 1970s, as well as sketches and sketches of the iconic album cover image.

In the gift set, Pierce further developed the shape of the pyramid. “Picking up the theme of the pyramids, I thought about the image of the sarcophagus,” he says. In addition to the book, there are various treasures inside the box: a CD with the recently remastered studio album The Dark Side Of The Moon, a DVD, a Blu-ray disc, and a CD and LP copy of The Dark Side Of The Moon. All these surprises appear in the process of unfolding a multilayer package. By the way, it is completely made of cardboard: there is no plastic in the composition.
