Ari 902: Inexpensive electric two-seater with lots of storage space

Ari from Borna near Leipzig brings an electric two-seater that is suitable for fabric drivers as well as private individuals – with low prices

The Smart EQ Fortwo is being phased out, and the cheapest electric car is now the Dacia Spring for around 23,000 euros. Is that possible, is there really no cheaper e-car? Well, the Ari 902 is available from 13,990 euros net or from 16,641 euros without VAT. It’s a two-seater like the Smart, but one with a lot of trunk space, and it competes in the L7e lightweight class.

The car, which is only 2.95 meters long, is primarily intended for tradespeople: for nursing services, pizza couriers, real estate agents and the like. But private individuals can also benefit from the 766 liter storage space. A large dog or shopping can be accommodated here.

The new 902 from Ari Motors in Borna near Leipzig is available in the Pure, Cargo and Comfort variants. The Pure is the simplest variant, there is just a normal trunk behind the two front seats with a net to hold small items.

The Cargo, on the other hand, has a stable partition grille in addition to the loading floor and lashing eyes. A trailer hitch is also in preparation, which should offer a towing capacity of 350 kg and a vertical load of 75 kg. A 230-volt socket is also available as an option, which can be used, for example, to power a cordless screwdriver or similar with 1.8 kW. The noblest variant is the Comfort; here there is a folding bench seat for children at the back.

ARI 902 short introduction

All 902s are driven by a 15 kW motor on the front axle; This means that speeds of up to 90 km/h are possible. Ari states the power consumption as 9.4 kWh/100 km. For comparison: The most economical “real” electric car, the Fiat 500 Elektro, needs 13.0 kWh/100 km according to the WLTP standard.

The power comes from a 9.2 kWh lithium-ion battery that works with just 77 volts. This should be 110 kilometers in it. Optionally there is a 10.35 kWh battery for up to 140 km or an 18.1 kWh battery for 200 km. The standard battery can be fully charged in four to five hours at a 230 volt socket via the charging connection on the front.

All versions of the Ari 902 have an anti-lock braking system as standard
Cargo and Comfort also have air conditioning and power steering. The Comfort also offers a luggage compartment blind and fog lights and the camera-based “Mobileye” driver assistance system with traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning.

Inside there is a small instrument display behind the steering wheel and a central touchscreen with MP4 player, Bluetooth function, hands-free system and reversing camera display. A visual highlight is the optional glass tilting roof. The standard color included in the price is white, which can be combined with the interior colors turquoise or red. The exterior colors fire red, silver gray and light blue are also available for all variants for an additional charge.

The Ari 902 is available immediately with a delivery time of around 12 weeks for:

13,990 euros net (pure)
14,990 euros net (cargo)
15,990 euros net (Comfort)

The statutory guarantee of two years applies to Pure and Cargo, which can be extended to four years if desired. The Comfort always offers the extended guarantee. There is no state funding for L7e light vehicles as there is for normal electric cars. But you can benefit from regional subsidies, including in
Berlin, Regensburg, Munich, or benefit from a current measure by the Federal Minister of Transport: Up to May 8th, fleet operators who need several Ari 902s will receive a subsidy of up to 50 percent.
